This project was made referencing the classic men’s white shirt, and from this reference I’ve taken the elements that served me while designing this collection.
The inspiration for this project were the Japanese Ama divers.
During the creation of this collection, I’ve taken inspiration from the flow and the freedom these divers had. This outfit's using draping and patternmaking techniques. The graphics I’ve created to be printed were inspired by the mother of the pearl, when one model was entirely constructed from these prints.
In addition, I’ve also printed the same graphics on acrylic sheets, then laser cutting amorphous shapes from it that, in my vision, expressed the movement of the Amas while diving. I’ve used these shapes to decorate the models and for accessories like buttons.
